Annapurna Base Camp (abc) Trek By Icicles Adventure

Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek, popularly known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is one of the most stunning treks in the world. The trek itself provides generally moderate hiking, majestic scenery and a mix of cultures incomparable to any other trek in Nepal.

On few first days on the Annapurna Base Camp trail we walk on well trodden trail meandering through lush oak and rhododendron forest, following the river and passing many beautiful waterfalls. The hike leads us to the famous view point of Poon Hill, where we will have a fantastic, 360-degree view of the Annapurna range, Mt. Machapuchare (22,943 ft.), Mt. Dhulagiri (26,794 ft.) at sunrise. We will also take time each day to stop in the picturesque villages like Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chhomrong, etc along the trail and enjoy a refreshing cup of tea while we rest our legs and observe the traditional Nepalese style life around us. We begin walking through sub-tropical valley and climb up to a glaciated alpine and eventually make our way to Machapuchare Base Camp and continue to the alpine mountain sanctuary of Annapurna Base Camp (13,550 ft.). We spend a wonderful night at a lodge at Annapurna Base Camp and we rise early the next morning to watch the sun come up and fill the amphitheatre of giant peaks that surround us by golden glitters.

Our 16 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu- the capital city of Nepal where you are going to land first as the one and only international airport is located here. But before leaving Kathmandu city, we shall go on a lively sightseeing tour that is planned by us. You will explore some of the most fascinating historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley including the popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

It will take us about 7 hours to reach Pokhara via land route. Upon reaching Pokhara city, we shall head off to Nayapul and then begin trekking to Tikhedhunga (1,540m). We will start walking on a scenic trail filled with lush green forests and reach Ghorepani village on the fifth day. One of the most anticipated day comes close as we hike up to the famous Poonhill for a bewildering view of the Himalayan mountains in the northern territories of Nepal. Next, we leave Ghorepani village and hike further up to Machapuchare Base Camp via Chomrong, Dovan and Deurali villages. We will remain here for the night and take our time to enrich ourselves with the majestic presence of the revered, holy Mt. Machapuchare where nobody has ever stepped a foot on.

The very next day, we begin trekking up towards Annapurna Base Camp which will not take more than 4 hours to reach. Situated at a high altitude of 4130m, you can get some jaw dropping views of the entire Annapurna range. Later, after taking some photos and exploring the ABC area, we shall begin descending back all the way down to Pokhara city to end our trek.

You must come and see why our Annapurna Base Camp Hike is one of the best treks in the world!
