Everest Base Camp By Icicles Adventure

One of the best trekking in the world, Everest Base camp trek takes you to the base camp Mt. Everest that soars at 8850meters, high above the Himalayan mountain range as the tallest mountain in the world. Base camp of Everest is a small rocky campsite is the hopping off point for determined Everest climbers. Everest base camp trek starts with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, from where we walk by though the incredible Khumbu Valley by the side of mani walls spinning the prayer wheels amidst Sherpa country. The 130 km walk for 11 glorious days through Himalayan Mountains towards Everest base camp and back to Lukla staring in awe at the landscape before our eyes. Hiking through Sagarmatha National Park, we walk wondering at massive and beautiful peaks like Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu and, of course, the mighty Everest herself standing 8848 meters high.

Everest base camp trek is regarded steps to heaven by some trekkers and its not only the walk and photography opportunity of the high Himalayan peaks; Everest base camp trek is a potential to walk through lush rhododendron forest, roaring milky white rivers, fluttering prayer flag laden suspension bridges, ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and spend few nights at local lodges run by culturally rich Sherpa people. Most days are nothing short of breathtaking, as we walk amidst the Sherpa villages spinning the prayer wheels amidst the Himalayan giants.

We begin the adventure upon landing in Kathmandu, the political and cultural hub of Nepal, where our program is to visit the city's famous cultural, historical and religious sites which are listed in UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the Boudhanath Stupa, the Swayambunath Stupa popularly known as the Monkey Temple and Patan Durbar Square.

The real adventure to Everest Base Camp began begins after a spectacular 35 minutes flight to Lukla. From Lukla with your crew you walk through mani walls dangling suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi River and culturally rich Sherpa villages of Phakding, Monjo and reach Namche Bazzar. As we reach there we feel the thin air and stay there for two nights in order to give time for our body to acclimatize with the altitude. Namche Bazaar is the center of old trade with Tibet for the region, and long trains of hairy yaks carrying goods over the mountains regularly share the trails with trekkers. As we go higher the vegetation gets more sparse and the air gets thinner but the looming towering peaks of Kantenga, Cholatse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and eventually Everest are enough to make us overlook our struggle. Our final destination is Everest Base Camp, set on the edge of the Khumbu glacier, amidst a sea of rocks, ice, tents, and prayer flags. Everest Base Camp becomes a lively, exciting place and a center for the mountaineering world every spring. We also climb the rocky outcrop of Kala Patar whose prayer flag blanketed summit provides the spectacular view of the Everest massif, with the South Col and the Hillary Step clearly visible along with all other Everest Himalayan range. From Everest Base Camp we follow same way back down through the Khumbu Valley to Lukla and to end our trip in Kathmandu.
